A two-minute story.

It has been many years since I created my first relic project, "Relic Strat" (that you can see on the list on the side). I was still living in Portugal at that time, another time, another life as a young graphic designer. Now that I look at the photos of that first relic job... no comments :)

In 2013, already living in France, I started selling relic guitars from a friend in the UK who did fantastic relic jobs, but my dream of doing it myself never died. After a while, I began to notice that, although they looked great, the quality of the necks wasn't that good, and I stopped selling those.

Also, I was selling good deals on guitars I found in France on eBay, mostly because I didn't earn that much on my day job, and this was a way of earning a bit more money as a recent immigrant. These were the goals of the MXKT Custom Guitars blog: to sell relic guitars and other good deals on the internet while sharing my own preferences when it comes to instruments.

Meanwhile, I read, watched videos, and studied pictures about relic guitars and basses. I still do, actually. I had some experiences with polyurethane and regular spray cans, but I finally surrendered to the charms of nitrocellulose. Spray cans in the beginning, and a spraygun about two years later. Every week that went by, my skills got better, leading me to the level I wanted to achieve.

Finally, in December 2017 ,I decided to separate my relic work from my used guitar sales. In December 2017, I created a new blog where I could only post my relic work, while my guitar business could continue to be posted here.

I want to thank all of those who have been following my activity and invite you to visit my other blog at:
