Another awesome Ibanez RG made in Japan available! Not just a guitar, but literally a piece of guitar history.

First time I sell an RG with the OSNJ vintage style neck heel. Although I'm a fan of the AANJ myself, I have to admit it was pretty clever for that period. In fact, I didn't noticed much difference while I was playing it, the access to the highs is great!

33 years old, but still in great shape! I've done the best I could to level the frets; the neck is now pretty much straight with a very slight curve up at the beginning of the fretboard, just enough to make the action as low as 2mm both at the 12th and 24th fret on the low E, and also 2mm both at the 12th and 24th fret too, on the high E string.

The previous owner has installed a Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis and also 2 special features: a kill-switch that goes back to ON when you stop pressing it (lower switch), and a kind of boost switch (I don't know if that has something to do with the Seymour Duncan...). What I know is that you have the usual 5-position switch known by everybody who has already played an HSH Ibanez (love the twangy tone on positions 2 and 4!), and once you engange the mini-switch up, the tone gets thicker and a bit louder while cutting some highs, or boosting some mids, if you prefer.

I've tried it with my Zoom G3 mainly on 3 simulations: Acoustic (great on all positions, boost On or Off); Fender Tweed (you still notice the 5 + 5 tones, boost On/Off), and Mesa Boogie, excellent on high gain tones. The more you push the overdrive, the less you hear the difference of the positions WHEN the boost is ON (the 5 normal/Off positions are always noticeable), meaning that, when you have a very distorted signal with the boost engaged, it seems you only have full humbucker bridge and neck positions (at least my ears don't hear the difference...). If you turn the boost switch Off, even on an overdriven tone, you still hear the difference between the 5 HSH normal positions.

Overall, if you're one of those guys who likes to tweak switches and explore tone, it's a pretty good guitar for that! The pots seem to be very recent too, no noise at all. And even for a guy that doesn't use the Tone knob that much like me, you can still explore that too, there are some great jazzy/funky tones available there on cleaner amp settings.

As for cosmetics, you have 2 major dings, one next to the jack input and the other on the arm cut (see the pics). The neck heel shows on both sides the cracks we all know on RGs, NO it will not break! Remember, 33 years old. The sides and horns are in pretty good condition, and some light scratches from normal wear, really not that visible. See for yourselves!

Last but not least: yes, the original black tremolo bar IS INCLUDED (although I forgot to take pics), the strap pins were replaced by a new set of black Gotoh but you will still receive the chrome ones that came with it, and, sorry, no case. The case below is my own and I use it as background. I don't like the knobs, but you do as you please; personally I would change them for something closer to the original.
