(Updated on April 2026)
In the next pages of this list, below, I will present my current gear. Since 2006-07, I've bought, sold, exchanged, assembled several guitars of different kinds, as you may have seen, and I still do. Like me, maybe you did too.
In case you're wondering why I do it, let me be clear AND honest; I'm not here to brag, to have more followers, or to be known, paid for this or that brand, etc. You like what you like, you afford what you can afford, and it's fine! We're not saving lives here or finding the cure to cancer. For many of us, this is a passion, and it's awesome.
On the other hand, I'm sick and tired — maybe that's because I'm almost in my 50s and having trouble hearing, seeing and accepting bulls**t - of guitarists, influencers, and brands, acting like we're dumb, deaf, blind and senseless. That's also one of the reasons why I do relic finishes at a low cost, but that's another chapter.
Everywhere, we see brands launching products like "now we have found the real deal." Older guitarists tell us nothing can compare to heavy tube amps, and influencers telling us we absolutely need to buy the latest stuff around. Yes, technology goes fast, very fast, but our ears have still been the same since ages. Oh, and the endless videos and discussions about Tele vs Strat, and Fender vs Gibson, and pickup vs pickup... It has become a sport.
I feel very deceived by all this. Brands, guitarists or influencers just want to SELL; either products, influence or image. And they need you and me to buy or listen. Is it fair? Well, at least be HONEST and respectful about it. We need you, but you need us too. There's another reason why I left Communication design several years ago; I was sick of advertising and all that crap. Moving on!
I have today what I feel is the best for my personal taste and kind of playing, and although there are dozens of guitar models I like out there, these are those I chose to keep.
Personally, I don't feel the need to have many guitars. When I began to have more than 9 or 10 guitars, it started to feel like I was doing more cleaning and maintenance than actually playing. So, what do I really want as a guy that plays at home and church?
So I stuck to my Ibanez RG MIJ models. That's my thing, maybe not yours, and it's fine. Pickups or other details may be slightly different, but these guitars really got me. If you've read the Washburn Nuno Bettencourt models section, man, the Ibanez fever is lasting way longer. Basically, what I see here and there, Suhr, Jackson, ESP, Charvel, Schecter, etc., and "boutique" brands too, don't add much to it IMO. To me, the RG model was a real life changer.
Enjoy!
